Secrets revealed...trying to sneak a peak at Santa

Last night our children revealed to us that when they were younger they would get up in the wee hours of Christmas morning to see if they could sneak a peak at Santa Clause. They knew their stockings were empty when they went to bed late the night before, and magically full the following morning.

They said that one at a time they would go into the upstairs hallway, and sit on the floor. This view has a direct line to where the stockings are hung ;-) They would whisper among themselves, wondering if he had already come, or if this year they would actually see him. You see, from their viewpoint they could only see the backs of the stockings thru the stairway pedestals...and you could not tell if anything was in them. They did this at different times of the night, and each time only 1 of them was up first, but the other 2 were soon alert to it and they also got up. As soon as they would hear us getting up, they quickly went back into their rooms, and waited to make their official wake-up before coming downstairs. It's no wonder they were always soooo tired Christmas morning LOL

Normally I would be upset that my children did not stay in their rooms as instructed. We were always nervously filling those stocking every so quietly in the very late hours of Christmas Eve. We would wait a little while after they went to bed, in hopes they were sound asleep, and our bustling would not make them stir.

It's a very touching feeling to know that Santa Clause really did exist, and as far as we're concerned he still does...in our hearts :-)
